Microdermabrasion

What is the microdermabrasion procedure?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that gives the skin a fresh, luminous, and visibly rejuvenated appearance. Through a slightly abrasive mechanical action, this procedure gently removes the superficial layer of dead cells, which, naturally, can make the skin look dull, tired, or aged. Once these cells are removed, the skin instantly gains a finer texture and a natural glow.

Another important benefit of microdermabrasion is the massage effect produced during the treatment, which stimulates blood circulation and increases local oxygenation. This process directly contributes to accelerating cell renewal and stimulating collagen synthesis – a protein essential for skin elasticity and firmness. The result is revitalized, smoother skin with a younger appearance.

Microdermabrasion is also effective in improving various skin imperfections, such as fine lines, pigment spots (sun spots or brown spots), post-acne scars, or enlarged pores. In addition, the treatment helps to deeply cleanse pores, reducing the risk of blackheads or inflammation.

Suitable for most skin types, this procedure can be integrated into a regular professional skin care plan, either as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other dermato-cosmetic therapies for optimal results.

Technical procedure of microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses a gentle, abrasive, mechanical action of metal heads with diamonds, giving the skin a rested and healthy appearance. The mechanical abrasion removes the outer layer of dead skin cells.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for adults who fall into the following categories:

  • Cannot afford to take time off for healing after a chemical peel or laser procedures.
  • Do not want to give up their outdoor activities, such as golf, tennis, or skiing.
  • Have skin sensitivities to chemicals or make-up.
  • Have acne-prone skin that has not responded well to other acne remedies.
  • Are young but their skin shows early signs of aging.

What to expect?

Microdermabrasion treatments are not aggressive; they are slow and progressive, and the best argument of all, they actually work! Most patients find microdermabrasion treatments to be quite relaxing. The treatment is like a “superficial skin polishing” with the help of diamond-covered devices that remove the superficial layer of epidermal cells that are aspirated through a delicate hand-operated device. In less than 35 minutes, this effective, gentle, abrasive technique produces satisfactory results.
Following the treatment, specially formulated creams can be applied to soften and further hydrate the skin.

What are the benefits of microdermabrasion treatment?

The benefits of microdermabrasion treatment are visible even from the first session. Immediately after the procedure, your skin will have a healthier, brighter appearance and will become visibly smoother and more velvety to the touch. The texture of the skin improves considerably, and the tone of the complexion becomes more even. These effects are not just temporary – as you follow a complete treatment program, the results will continue to amplify, along with the stimulation of cell regeneration and collagen production.

However, to keep the skin in the best possible shape, it is essential to adopt a daily care routine. Protecting the skin against UV rays is a priority – therefore, it is recommended to apply a cream with SPF of at least 15 daily, even on cloudy days or in the cold season. Unprotected exposure to the sun can cancel the benefits of the treatment and accelerate the skin aging process.

Hydration and proper cleansing are essential steps for maintaining fresh and balanced skin. Use gentle care products, adapted to your skin type, formulated to support cell regeneration and to prevent dryness or irritation. For best results, it is recommended to consult your skin care specialist, who can suggest professional products and personalized protocols according to your skin’s needs.

To maintain the effects of microdermabrasion in the long term, we recommend a maintenance session every 4 weeks. This monthly “touch-up” treatment helps to keep the skin clean, smooth, and revitalized, preventing the recurrence of imperfections and supporting a young and healthy appearance of the complexion.
