Who is the right candidate for V-line intervention in the face
All people want to have harmonious traits of the face. When we look at the face the harmony is determined by the position of the eyes, nose, mouth, chin and mandible. These elements form a triangle with the tip down (the base of the triangle is the line that unites the eye). When we get older or if the mandible is wide or the small chin we have the impression that the triangle has the base facing down in the mandible, and this aspect is not youthful and aesthetically pleasing.
If the cause of the inaesthetic appearance of the face is a wide mandible or a chin too small or too large then the patient is a candidate for V-line surgery (it is called V-line because it tries to get a look of the mandible and V-chin)
V-shape surgery has become popular in the last few years. This procedure is addressed to the contour of the mandible of the chin or bone that gives the contour of the cheek, Zigoma. These aesthetic procedures can be combined with orthognatic surgery procedures that address the correct alignment of the teeth.
How is V-shape surgery performed?
V-shape surgery is performed in total anesthesia. For mandibular reduction The incisions are made inside the mouth between the lower teeth and cheek then the bone reduction is achieved at the mandibular edge level as long as preoperative has been established. Through the same incisions can be achieved and reducing the muscle massif which if it is hypertrofiat contributes to the exacerbation of the angle of the mandible and to the bark of the lower parts of the face. The next step is to reshaping the bone from the chin level. The chin can be narrowed low or projected to the previous as needed. Synthetic Facial Implants can be used for projection. The bone called Zigoma from the cheek can also be modeled, most commonly requires an impactness because it is too wide in relation to the traits of the face.
Preoperative Dr Hârcethe will do some measurements on a film of the facial Bones (computer tomographer). The remodeling of the bones will determine the redefinition of the face wave in a harmonious way.
