Treatment of dilated veins (Laser & sclerotherapy)

  1. Nd-Yag Laser treatments by Syneron Candela

Laser ND: YAG is used for the treatment of vascular lesions, pigmentation, as well as for permanent epilation or photorejuvenation. Treatment is indicated for vascular lesions of the face, body and limbs with a diameter of less than 2 mm, so not the veins with large diameter dilated Varicos. The ND: YAD laser penetrates the skin deeper than the PDL-type V-Beam laser is indicated for the treatment of deeper vessels or venous vascular malformations (venous hemagiomas)

Laser ND: YAG produces blood clotting and irritation of the wall of small blood vessels through intense heat, causing their collapse. The wavelength of 1064 nm is best suited for the treatment of vascular lesions due to increased absorption by haemoglobin of this wavelength.

During the procedure you will protect your eyes with special glasses. For starters, you will feel the feeling of cold because it is necessary to cool the skin surface to protect it because the emitted energy is absorbed by the existing melanin (pigment) in the skin. All you’ll feel is a sting to download the bright flash, which quickly disappears after applying the cooling piece. Anesthetic cream can also be applied before treatment for increased comfort.

Immediately after treatment a redness and/or minimal edema may occur which can last from several hours to 2-3 days. Small vessels disappear immediately, the largest (less than 2 mm) become bluish or brown, which can persist to 1-2 months.
Ice bags can be applied to reduce edema when needed. The risk of developing skin pigmentation disorders after this treatment is minimal. For safety, creams with sun protection factors can be used for 3 months in the case of prolonged exposure to radiation U.V.

In order to achieve the desired effect in laser treatment ND: YAG of vascular lesions, several sessions may be required depending on the size of the vessels and their depth to the skin, the particularities of each person.

  1. Sclerotherapy

For the treatment of larger tree veins in the legs Dr. Hârceis uses sclerotherapy. This method consists of injecting into the vein that should be treated by a sclerozing agent (usually Aethoxysklerol) that causes occlusizing of the blood vessel and the disappearance of the coloured trajectory from the skin. The injection is made with a syringe with a fine needle 30-32 G lasts 15-20 minutes and usually does not require anesthesia. There are no post-treatment restrictions, patients are advised to avoid the sun and heat for a few days post procedure.
